We cannot forget to mention the typical gastronomy of the region which can be enjoyed in the various restaurants of the village, the stews & rice dishes being the most significant, which also benefits the principal activity of the village which is agriculture, citrus fruits, cereal crops & vegetables. An ideal location for those looking for a holiday home in nice surroundings with amenities all on hand.
The close proximity to both Alicante & San Javier airports accessible in 30 minutes and without forgetting how close we are to the beautiful beach of Guadamar just 10 minutes away & challenging golf courses also on your doorstep. Also very interesting and worth a visit are the El Rodeo cave - a series of cave dwellings built into the side of a mountain during the 19th Century. Most of the caves have now been taken over by artists and craftsmen and a regular craft market is held there. By the side of the El Rodeo caves you will find the famous ‘Shell House’ - a testament to the patience and perseverance of one man - Manuel Fulleda Alcaraz, you can still find him working on his house, adding more shell daily. If you stand outside the house, Manuel will invite you in himself and when you have finished looking, you can purchase small mementos, decorated with shells, to remind you of your visit.
Close by formentera are the salt lagoons of la Mata and Torrevieja (Parque Natural de Las Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja), a great place for trekking, cycling or bird-watching and also the fabulous sandy beaches of Guadamar del Segura, a popular and beautiful coastal town.
The neighboring new town of Ciudad Quesada also provides some great facilities, including its own Water Park and a fine 18 hole golf course.
