La Zenia boasts a couple of excellent beaches, Cala Bosque and Cala Cerrada and is also close to some other superb beaches at Cabo Roig and Playa Flamenca, both beaches have ‘blue flag’ status and are well cared for and maintained. Another great feature is the picturesque cliff walk to Cabo Roig, with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea towards the sports resort of La Manga. Work is currently being done at various points along the coast to extend and improve the promenade and cliff walk so that eventually visitors will be able to enjoy walking all the way from Campoamor to Torrevieja, a new marina is also planned at Torrevieja. La Zenia currently has a good range of shops, bars and restaurants and a new commercial centre being developed close to the motorway junction, will greatly improve the range of facilities available for visitors to the area.
The superb Saturday market at Playa Flamenca is just a short walk from La Zenia and is located behind the Mercadona supermarket (just follow the crowds!), it is held from 8am - 2pm and is a great place to find a bargain, or just stock up on some locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables. The well known Cabo Roig strip is also close by and can be easily reached by bus and taxi or even by foot if you don’t mind a 15 minute walk. The ‘strip’ has a huge choice of bars and restaurants and plenty of live entertainment during the busy summer months.
Also close by is the Go-Kart track at Punta Prima, a great place to take the kids for an hour or two, there are even mini-karts and mini-quads for young children.
La Zenia is located on the N332 coastal road between Cabo Roig and Playa Flamenca and has its own exit from the AP-7 motorway (763), it is easily reached from both Murcia and Alicante airports being around 20 minutes from Murcia airport by car and 45 minutes from Alicante.
